The Apparel and Footwear International RSL Management (AFIRM) Group is a recognized association of numerous top brands providing resources to reduce the use and impact of harmful substances in the apparel and footwear supply chain. With its long-termed experience in the area of Restricted Substances Management and Value-Chain Analysis, gsm provides tools, training and practical advice that offer support to put requirements concerning clean production into practice.

With 650 participants from all over the world, the expectations of the organisers have been greatly exceeded. The large number of participating producers from various areas of textile and leather production shows the growing importance of the topic and underlines the need to find practicable and reliable methods for a controlled management of chemicals. The seminar served as an exchange platform for best practices and solutions to ensure compliance with international industry standards.

At the well-attended gsm stand, seminar participants discussed lively with our experts about RSL-topics and got to know the gsm solutions and tools. gsm-representative Lavinia Muth is convinced that there is lot in transition in the textile and apparel industry: “Producers and retailers realise the importance of transparency of chemical products and components used throughout all production stages and are very keen to find solutions. Product safety and environmental responsibility is nowadays at the same level with quality.”

Especially, the new gsm-software application c.a.r.e – Chemical Assessment Risk Elimination was received with great interest. The easy to handle, cost saving and web-based application serves to manage inventory lists for chemicals, to save and document conformity evidences and provides expert knowledge (more about c.a.r.e.).
