ECHA names seven new SVHC

HELSINKI. In December ECHA adds seven new substances to the candidate list of Substances for Very High Concern,which is part of the REACH regulation. The updated list that is part of the REACH regulation now contains 151 substances. 

One critical substance is e.g. the phthalate DnHP, used as softener in plastics or coatings. Furthermore there are several chemicals that are used as pigments, among other areas of application also in the textile industry. As soon as a substance is on the candidate list, all participants of the supply chain have to fulfill their obligation to inform business clients and consumers about the safe use of the SVHC, in case the product contains more than 0,1% of the substance. Producers now have six months, until the June 16th 2014 to fulfill the new regulations. For further information:
